Adam

BarkTown welcomes Adam, our newest playgroup coordinator!  Adam and his girlfriend recently adopted a beautiful little pug and named her Lulu! A cuter pug has never been seen! His love for dogs is obvious, but he also has a wide variety of talents and also owns a recording studio and plays the drums in a couple of bands.

Our Groomers:

Hi, my name is Brenda Kleinschmidt McCoy. I met April, the owner of Bark Town, as I was just graduating from grooming school and she was entering. We hit it off right away and she asked if I would like to be part of the team here and I jumped at the opportunity! I will now be grooming at Bark Town USA on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and am now taking appointments for the new year.
A little bit about me...
I am a single mother of 2 beautiful daughters and 2 fun dogs; Gracie a Chihuahua and Zoe my rescue Sheltie/Pom.

I showed my collie, in AKC showmanship.  When my daughter was in 4H for several years, I taught the kids how to do agility, obedience and showmanship with their own dogs.  Then in October of 2009  I was permanently laid off from an insurance company where I worked for 16 years.  After 5 months of trying to find work I decided to do what I love to do, I went to dog grooming school and graduated this past August.

Call 517.548.9917 to make an appointment for me to meet and groom your dog!

Hope to meet you soon,

April

Founder, Owner, Trainer, and Groomer at Barktown.  April has been competing with dogs for years in fly ball, frisbee, and agility, and finally made her dream of owning a doggie daycare come true in 2005 when she opened Bark Town.  She has completed courses in canine play and aggression, training and behavior, and a introduction to canine rehabilitation.  April has also recently gained her certification from the Michigan School of Canine Cosmetology to further her knowledge of canine well being.  Along with all of her other credentials, April is one of our trainers here at Bark Town and sometimes holds our puppy social courses.  In her spare time she trains her three border collies Storm, Diva, and Iris and loves to watch them compete in nearby competitions.

Our Trainers...

Linda K. Nichols, CPDT

Linda is owner of Fido FUNdamentals LLC and offers training classes and puppy socialization sessions at Bark Town.  She also offers in-home new puppy packages to get your new puppy started out right, and behavioral consults including help with timid or fearful dogs, on-leash reactivity, housetraining problems, separation anxiety and other common behavioral problems.
She is a Certified Pet Dog Trainer (CPDT) and a professional member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) as well as an approved evaluator for the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) testing.
Linda continuously updates her knowledge on dog behavior including extensive reading, on-line discussion groups with other professionals, and attending seminars and workshops (including conferences of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers).  CPDT’s are required to attend approved courses and workshops and earn CEU’s to keep certification active.
Linda has competed in various dog sports since the 1980's and has earned numerous advanced titles in obedience (including AKC, UKC, and CKC) on several breeds of dogs. She has earned High in Trial and Dog World awards, as well as regional obedience competition placements. She has also competed in tracking, conformation, and agility, though her true love is the sport of competition obedience.

Sharon Drescosky, CPDT

Sharon has been training dogs since her very first training class in the early 1980's.
After acquiring a shy, timid dog that she found difficult to teach, she enrolled in a training class and has never looked back.  Acquiring other dogs with different challenges drove Sharon's desire to learn more about behavior.  Sharon was among of the first to take the nationally recognized certification exam offered by the Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT) and has earned the title of Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT).
Sharon is a professional member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) and is an Associate Member of the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC). She is also a Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Evaluator.
Sharon's dogs are all rescues and have been instrumental in helping her learn to deal with a variety of behaviors and to better understand the bond that can exist between a human and an animal.
Sharon stays on the cutting edge of training techniques and behavior modification by continued education through national conferences, seminars, workshops, video, DVD's, books and discussions.  Sharon has trained and competed with various dogs in Obedience, Flyball, Rally and Agility. She currently trains and competes in agility but feels one of her biggest accomplishments was learning how to better understand and communicate with her dogs and helping others do the same.
Sharon teaches a variety of classes from puppy to agility, offers in-home private consultations as well as behavior consultations.
Sharon can be reached at:  (248) 360-1357 or purplepaw@prodigy.net
